Spicy Tofu Stew (Soon Tofu) 순두부 찌개

  1. Hey Grace, made the Kimchee fried rice and the Soon tubu chigae this weekend for my friends and they loved it. I added some dashi instead of salt to round out the flavour a bit. Even better, I think that a bunch of people (we had 11 for dinner) have been inspired by this site to start making their Korean favourites!

  2. Awww, I feel like crying now.
Thanks, John. You made my day.
You have any pictures of it. If you do send them to me at grace@crazykoreancooking.com

As much as we have fun, sometimes it feels like a lot of work to squeeze in my really hectic schedule.
Hearing that you actually made use of our craziness makes me feel a little more useful. ;)

Yeah sure, improvising is the way to go.. you can always make your own style of food i guess.
Hope you had a fantastic time with your friends.

We shot a new episode today..will be up this week.
Stay tuned and let me know if you have any requests.
    Gun Bae!

  3. Hey Grace, well thanks for providing such an important service to us! Normally I take pictures of all the food that I make (check out my Facebook food album at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=83281&l=cce1b&id=875965113) but I was so busy cooking that I forgot.
My friends really want to try some Soju - where can you buy it in Toronto? Is there a distributor or do you have to pay $18 from a restaurant? I am from here and visiting here but I actually live in San Salvador (Central America) where there are two Korean restaurants (mostly for the Korean factory owners) where we can get the Soju for $6! It isn't the $3 in Seoul but still pretty cheap.
Looking forward to the next episode!

  4. Oh my, you have really interesting food pics.
San Salvador... wonder what their food tastes like

Yep you can go to LCBO (standard liquor store here) to get Soju although small ones might not have them. But, big ones should have them.

Oh, but if you are going out with your friends, most Korean restaurants here offer a combo of Soju (or 5 beer) and a big plate of Korean food (you can pick from a list of dishes) for $20. It's not a bad deal considering a large dish can cost over $10. Just ask if they have the combo deal before you go in.

Hope you have a great time here.
